Lake Oreti is located on the territory of Tusheti State Reserve, at 2650 meters above sea level. Lake Oreti trail is one of the most interesting and beautiful hiking routes in Tusheti.

The trail is of medium difficulty, with a total length of 12-13 km and starts near the village of Kumelaurta. There are beautiful views from the area of Lake Oreti, from which almost the entire Tusheti can be seen.

Two endemic species live in the area of Lake Oreti - the Caucasian Grouse and the Caucasian Snowcock. These birds are usually active in the evening and early morning and can be seen and heard during these times. While traveling on the Oreti trail, visitors may spot baby deer, wild goats, bear, rarely wolf and lynx. Their footprints are many on the path.
